Farsightedness means that you can see things far away better than you can see things up close when you are not wearing glasses or contacts.

One cause of farsightedness is a cornea (clear front window of the eye) that is not curved enough. The "flat" curvature of the cornea causes images to come into focus behind the retina instead of on the retina.

At the retina, the image is unfocussed and appears blurred. Glasses or contacts help to overcome the limitations of the flat cornea, allowing images to focus more precisely on the retina. This results in clearer vision. LASIK Laser Vision Correction changes the shape of the cornea itself, allowing images to focus more precisely on the retina, even without glasses or contacts.
